Seminole County Steps Forward with Land Conservation Program |
Seminole County’s newest land acquisition program, Seminole Forever, aims at preserving environmentally sensitive lands, such as wetlands, forests, and other natural habitats. Seminole Forever acquisitions will be protected from development for long-term conservation or passive recreation use.
A new seven-member Acquisition and Restoration Committee (ARC) will recommend land purchases to the Board of County Commissioners for conservation or passive recreation. The committee is currently developing application criteria for land conservation. Overall, six percent of the County’s general fund revenues will be allocated to Seminole Forever, which equals more than $3 million for this fiscal year.
