Penny Sales Tax Funds Major Wymore Road Improvements |
Construction continues on widening Wymore Road from the Orange County line to Spring Valley Road and installing a storm sewer system from Lake Destiny to Spring Valley Road.
Once the curb and sidewalk work are finished, crews can begin repaving Wymore Road. The entire project is expected to reach completion by the end of summer, creating a safer roadway for drivers, pedestrians, and nearby residents.
This project is funded by Seminole County's One-Cent Sales Tax for County Infrastructure, known as the Penny Sales Tax. The Penny Sales Tax funds local projects, including stormwater systems, sidewalks and roadways, capital improvements to public safety, and enhancements to Seminole County Public Schools facilities.

Drain and Cover To Control Mosquito Populations |
Summer is in full swing, which means you’ve probably already swatted a few mosquitos or dealt with some itchy bites! The Seminole County Mosquito Control Program reminds you to use insect repellent with DEET and wear long sleeves and pants in areas with a lot of mosquito activity. To prevent mosquitos from breeding in standing water, drain water from containers like garbage cans, storage bins, plant pots, bird baths, or areas that accumulate puddles and mud.
Seminole County Mosquito Control conducts routine inspections and manages mosquito populations with a variety of methods. Crews work to remove or eliminate standing water sources that serve as mosquito breeding grounds while also treating concentrated areas with larvicide (to kill larvae) and adulticide (to kill adult mosquitos). They also monitor for mosquito-borne illnesses like West Nile virus and Zika virus and work with the Florida Department of Health to report and eradicate them.
You can request mosquito treatment in your area. Submit an online request form at seminolecountyfl.gov/mosquito. |

New Loop Trails Open at Lake Mills Park |
|
|
Seminole County officials and the Parks and Recreation Department celebrated the opening of a new boardwalk and trail in Lake Mills Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. These new trails replace and expand upon previously deteriorated trails and form a loop that runs through the Chuluota park. |
|
|
The new shade-covered boardwalk and trail were funded by the One Cent Infrastructure Sales Tax, or Penny Sales Tax, which helps maintain the County’s infrastructure, as well as funds from the American Rescue Plan Act. |

Protect Your Pets This Summer |
Hot dog! If you’re taking your pet on a walk this summer, please keep the heat in mind. If the air is hot, the temperature of the asphalt or concrete you are walking on is even hotter –
and your pet is barefoot!
Seminole County Animal Services reminds pet owners that air temperatures above 90° F could equate to asphalt surface temperatures of 140–150° F. Keep paws safe by limiting walks to grassy areas or during cooler parts of the day. |
