Seminole County Veterans Services Office Celebrates New Lobby Opening |
Seminole County recently expanded its capacity to serve the County's approximately 30,000 veterans by opening a new Veterans Services Office lobby with a ribbon cutting. The new lobby provides a more welcoming and accessible space for veterans to visit in person or make appointments with staff.
The Veterans Services Office assists veterans, dependents, survivors, and others in navigating U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits and connecting them with essential resources. Since last October, the office has filed nearly 800 VA claims, resulting in millions of dollars in retroactive pay. U.S. Air Force Veteran Kathy Corraliza, with Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 30 in Sanford, praised the team's outreach efforts, support, and increased accessibility made possible by the new lobby.
The expansion of the Veterans Services Office reflects Seminole County's commitment to honoring our local veterans, and supports the goal to better serve those who have faithfully served their Country. |

Protect Our Waterways with the Seminole Education, Restoration and Volunteer (SERV) Program |
Are you looking for a way to get more involved with our community and protect our environment in Seminole County? The Seminole Education, Restoration and Volunteer (SERV) Program is always seeking volunteers to help with projects that protect our waterways and natural areas. Volunteering is open to children and adults, and students are able to earn volunteer hours for the Bright Futures program.
Individual volunteers or school groups and offices can sign up for ongoing or one-day service projects. Activities could include removing invasive plants alongside lakes and protected lands, planting native vegetation to improve shoreline ecosystems, marking storm drains to educate the public, and cleaning up trash from various waterways. In addition to the one-day service projects, individuals or teams can Adopt-A-Road or Adopt-A-River in Seminole County to keep our community clean and healthy.
Efforts made by volunteers through the SERV Program makes a difference for Seminole County’s precious water resources. |
