New High Visibility Crossings on County Trails |
Green means go for cyclists and pedestrians using Seminole County's trails! County-contracted crews are currently installing high visibility trail crossings at intersections along the Cross Seminole Trail, with plans for the Seminole Wekiva Trail next.
These bright green crosswalks are made with three layers of paint and corundum, a durable, skid-resistant material. The result is lower maintenance costs and a safer crosswalk for cyclists, joggers, and walkers making their way across the County’s signature trails.
This project is funded by the One Cent Infrastructure Sales Tax, or Penny Sales Tax. The Penny Sales Tax is levied on the sale of consumer goods to visitors, residents, and businesses, helping to fund local projects like park enhancements, stormwater system improvements, and new sidewalks and roads. |

Serving Those Who Served |
Seminole County Veterans Services, Seminole County Community Health, the Florida Department of Health (FDOH)-Seminole, and community partners hosted a Veterans Stand Down event on September 7, the first held since 2019.
Veterans who are homeless, precariously housed, or at-risk were invited to take advantage of essential services such as medical care, haircuts, dental screenings, showers, and benefit assistance. Nearly 40 former servicemen and women attended the event.
Seminole County is honored to serve and celebrate our veterans, who have bravely protected our nation’s freedoms. |

Wekiva Golf Club Improvements |
|
|
This fall at Wekiva Golf Club, crews are completing installation of the new irrigation system on the back nine. This non-invasive process preserves the greens, allowing play to resume quickly. Improvements made earlier this year to the front nine have already enhanced the greens. |
|
|
New storm system upgrades will also prevent flooding and sinkhole damage. At the clubhouse, players can enjoy new restrooms and other updates, with A/C repairs and lighting updates planned next. |

Help Control Mosquito Populations |
As the rainy season continues, remember to drain standing water around your home to prevent mosquito population growth. Mosquito eggs hatch in water, with their entire life cycle lasting about 8-10 days.
Drain or refresh standing water in trash cans and lids, buckets, bird baths, flower pots, gutters, children’s toys, or any containers that can collect water. Wear repellent and keep exposed skin covered during dusk and dawn, when mosquitos are most active. |
