Water Smarter This Spring: It’s Conservation Month |
As part of Earth Month, Seminole County is highlighting the importance of sustainability by focusing on one of our most vital resources: water. The Board of County Commissioners recently proclaimed April as Water Conservation Month, encouraging all residents to take simple, meaningful steps to reduce water waste.
As temperatures rise and dry conditions set in, outdoor water use typically increases. But conserving water now helps protect the Florida aquifer and ensures a sustainable future for our community.
Here’s how you can make a difference:
-
Follow landscape watering restrictions: Whether you use a private well or a public utility, lawn and landscape irrigation is limited to twice per week, and only before 10 a.m. or after 4 p.m.
-
Get rewarded for smart irrigation: Residents who purchase a new, standalone EPA WaterSense-labeled smart irrigation controller can receive a 100% rebate, up to $200.
-
Check your system: Inspect your irrigation setup for leaks and efficiency to avoid unnecessary waste.

Mosquito Control Gets a High-Tech Upgrade |
|
|
The Seminole County Mosquito Control Program is stepping up for the rainy season with new smart traps that use carbon dioxide to identify mosquitoes and fungus gnats. The technology improves data collection and helps the team treat the right areas at the right time, cutting costs and reducing bites before they start. |
