Connecting the Lake Monroe Trail Loop |
Seminole County is working to connect Sanford's RiverWalk to SR 415 to complete a missing piece of the Lake Monroe Trail Loop. Last fall, a portion of the trail along Celery Avenue, adjacent to Tim Raines Sports Park, was completed in collaboration with the City of Sanford. Now, crews are extending the trail from East Seminole Boulevard along Mellonville Avenue and Celery Avenue to east of Sipes Avenue.
Funded by the Penny Sales Tax and an agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation, Phase 1 is expected to finish in early 2026. Phase 2 will extend the trail east to Chickasaw Drive. Crews are currently working on the east end of Celery Avenue and moving west to allow existing utility lines to be safely relocated.
This project will enhance regional connectivity and promote outdoor recreation, offering residents and visitors safer, more scenic ways to explore the area. |
