Boombah Sports Complex Named Nation’s Best Youth Baseball Facility |
|
Seminole County’s Boombah Sports Complex has been ranked #1 in the nation by Newsweek’s 2025 Fans’ Choice Awards for Best Youth Baseball Complexes in America.
The recognition highlights Boombah’s state-of-the-art facilities, including 15 top-quality fields, digital scoreboards, professional lighting, and player-friendly amenities. The complex has become a national hub for elite travel baseball tournaments, attracting teams and families from across the U.S.
“We’re proud to see the Boombah Sports Complex recognized as the nation’s Best Youth Baseball Complex by Newsweek’s Fan Choice Awards,” said Seminole County Board of County Commissioners Chairman Jay Zembower. “Seminole County is a great place for youth sports. This honor reflects not only the exceptional quality of the facility, but also the dedication of the staff who keep it running at the highest level. Our destination truly has it all, and we’re honored to welcome athletes and families from across the country to experience it.”
The Newsweek honor also reinforces Seminole County’s reputation as a leading sports tourism destination, with a proven track record of hosting major amateur events that deliver a strong economic impact to the region. |

Community Services and True Health Celebrate Clinic Renovation |

|
Seminole County Community Services Department has partnered with True Health to renovate the Casselberry True Health clinic. This project utilized the County’s Request for Applications (RFA) process, leveraging a combination of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding, support from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), as well as other federal assistance to bring long-lasting health and sustainability benefits to Seminole County residents.

Originally built in the 1980s, the updated facility now features 88 rooftop solar panels and two advanced Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). These systems are capable of powering essential areas such as the pharmacy and family practitioners’ offices and can also provide backup electricity to the entire facility. This includes safeguarding critical equipment like vaccine refrigerators capable of storing up to $1 million worth of vaccines in the event of a power outage.
The Casselberry True Health location now offers a wide range of comprehensive medical services. Residents can access adult care, pediatrics, behavioral health, dental services, laboratory testing, and pharmacy support, all delivered by experienced and compassionate healthcare providers. |

Love at First Meow: 32 Adoptions at Kitten Shower |
|
Seminole County Animal Services found loving homes for 32 cats and kittens during its second annual Kitten Shower, held earlier this month. The event helps highlight the shelter’s youngest arrivals and gives families an opportunity to adopt on the spot.
While the kitten shower is over, the need remains. Animal Services continues to welcome donations of much-needed items like canned pâté kitten food (no fish), cat toys, non-clumping litter, and carriers to help care for animals waiting to be adopted.

New Online Access to Public Notices |
|
Seminole County has launched a new online tool to improve access to public hearing notices. Thanks to recent legislation, legally required notices can now be published directly on the County’s website — making it easier for residents to stay informed.
The new system includes customizable notice templates, an option to sign up for email or mail alerts, and a link to notices right from the homepage. This update enhances transparency, accessibility, and convenience for our community.

Mitigation Efforts Earn Statewide Honor |

Congratulations to Kathryn Valentine, Mitigation and Resiliency Manager with Seminole County’s Office of Emergency Management, who was recently named the 2025 recipient of the Miles Anderson Heart of Mitigation Award by the Florida Disaster Foundation.
This prestigious award recognizes a professional who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in community planning, successfully completed local mitigation projects, and advanced resiliency programs through development and implementation.
