It is an honor to serve as Chairman of your Board of County Commissioners for the coming year. I am grateful for the trust of my colleagues and of our community as we work together to support safe neighborhoods, strong infrastructure, and the high quality of life that defines Seminole County.

In the year ahead, our focus remains on the services the community relies on every day, including public safety, well-maintained roads, environmental stewardship, and programs that strengthen families and local businesses. We remain committed to preserving what makes Seminole County a community of opportunity and possibility.

Kick Off the Holidays at Paws & Claus

Get ready for a day full of furry fun, festive cheer, and holiday magic—Paws & Claus is back for its third year, and it’s bigger and more festive than ever!

Join us on Saturday, December 6, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Fort Mellon Park & Sanford Riverwalk for a celebration you won’t want to miss.

Hosted by Seminole County Animal Services and the Sanford Fire Department, this event has grown tremendously in impact and excitement each year. Last year’s event had 24 pet adoptions and featured 50 vendors, highlighting the community’s support and the event’s growth.

Attendees can adopt a new pet, shop from local vendors offering unique holiday gifts, and even snap a memorable photo with Santa. It’s not just for humans—pets are invited too!

Take advantage of $5 discounts on rabies vaccines and microchips, keeping your pets healthy and safe through the holidays. It’s the perfect opportunity to combine holiday festivities with responsible pet care.

Whether looking to adopt, shop, or simply enjoy the holiday spirit with your pet, Paws & Claus is the place to be. Mark your calendars and make it a jolly day to remember—for pets and families!

County Employees Join Teach-In

Students got an up-close look at the many services County employees provide during Seminole County Public Schools’ annual Teach-In on November 18. They learned about water conservation, recycling, animal services, road work, utilities, emergency response, and more.

The event introduces students to a wide range of careers and encourages them to explore fields they may want to pursue in the future.

“You never know when a question in a classroom will translate into a calling to better your community, and I am grateful to be a part of that,” said Recycle Program Coordinator Adeemir Dacenay, who presented at Tuskawilla Middle School.

Employees from Environmental Services, Utilities, Solid Waste, Public Works, Animal Services, the Fire Department, Emergency Management, and more took part and shared real-world insight into their work. Students had the opportunity to see the CCTV truck used to inspect underground collection system pipes to ensure sewer systems run smoothly. They also got to see some of the large scale equipment used by Public Works, including a skid steer and a roller.

Scout Celebrates One Month of Full Service

Seminole County’s new on-demand public transportation service, Scout, recently marked one month of full service.

Since launching on October 15, Scout has served more than 20,000 passengers and completed roughly 18,000 rides across its five service zones.
