Scout Launches Wait Time Planner 

Seminole County’s on-demand public transportation service, Scout, has introduced a new tool to make trip planning easier. The Wait Time Planner feature lets riders check estimated pickup wait times before booking their next ride.

Simply click “Wait Time Planner” in the app, enter your pickup location and destination, and choose “Leave Now” or “Leave Later.” You’ll see an estimated wait time, along with an hourly table showing average waits throughout the day. Estimates are based on ride data from the past two weeks and the actual wait time may vary. 

This update comes as the County continues to monitor system performance and improve service across all Scout zones since its October 15 launch. Since full service began, Scout has completed more than 25,000 rides for nearly 30,000 passengers.

Outreach efforts also continue. Scout was a featured topic at Good Morning Seminole Thursday, a monthly gathering of business and community leaders. Commissioner Amy Lockhart, Vice Chair of the Board of County Commissioners, joined the panel to share insight into the vision behind the County’s new microtransit service.

Access to Free Narcan Through Community Health Program

In partnership with the Florida Department of Children & Families (DCF), Seminole County Community Health is making the lifesaving opioid antagonist Narcan readily available—at no cost—to residents across the county.

Through DCF’s Overdose Prevention Program, Seminole County Community Health provides both Narcan and Narcan distribution boxes located throughout Seminole County.

Since 2016, the Overdose Prevention Program has worked to reduce opioid overdose deaths by increasing access to free naloxone for individuals most likely to experience or witness an overdose. Today, this network includes over 600 enrolled distributors statewide.

Residents can pick up Narcan at more than twenty locations in Seminole County or at any Community Health outreach event. Supplies are provided at no cost, helping ensure that lifesaving medication is always within reach.

‘Tis the Season to Recycle

As the holiday season gets underway and new tech toys and gadgets make their way into homes, the Seminole County Solid Waste Division is reminding residents to properly dispose of their old and broken electronics. Instead of tossing them in the trash, you can bring them to the Central Transfer Station’s Household Hazardous Waste Tunnel in Longwood.

Accepted items include lithium-ion batteries, phones, televisions, printers, computers, and monitors, all of which can be safely disposed of for free.

When residents properly dispose of e-waste, they help protect the environment from harmful materials seeping into soil and waterways, prevent potential fires involving lithium-ion batteries, and allow for valuable metals like platinum, copper, aluminum, gold, and silver to be recovered and reused. 

Residents can bring electronic waste anytime during regular business hours: Monday through Saturday, 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., at 1950 State Road 419 in Longwood.
