Planning to Ride? Get Set Up with Scout and Save |
|
Upcoming changes are coming to Seminole County transit routes. Beginning January 11, only a limited number of fixed LYNX routes will continue operating in Seminole County with adjustments, making this a good time to become familiar with Scout, the County’s new on-demand transportation service.
Before trying Scout, riders are encouraged to check whether they qualify for discounts, including income-based eligibility. Anyone can complete a certification form on the Scout website to see if they are eligible for 50% off fares with prices capped depending on income level.
Additional savings are also available. Seniors and students receive 50% off fares, LYNX Access Plus riders and individuals with disabilities pay $1 per trip, and all riders who book through the Ride Freebee app receive an additional 50-cent discount.
For residents without access to a smartphone to download the app, rides may be scheduled by calling 407-665-RIDE (7433).
Seminole County is also preparing to add more vehicles to the Scout fleet to help reduce wait times and continue improving service for residents. |

National Soccer Event Spotlights County Facilities |
|
The annual Elite Club National League (ECNL) Florida soccer showcases are generating significant benefits for Seminole County Tourism by attracting national-level competition to county-owned facilities.
Matches were played this past weekend at Sylvan Lake Park and the Boombah Sports Complex, as well as the privately owned Seminole Soccer Complex. The three-day showcase featured approximately 170 teams from more than 25 states competing in 255 games. Total estimated attendance exceeded 5,000 people, including players, spectators, and college coaches, with games running from early morning until dusk.
The ECNL Girls Soccer event will follow this weekend on January 9–11, with its final day also hosted at the Boombah Sports Complex. Increased traffic is expected during this time, and residents are encouraged to plan for additional travel time.
Together, these events draw a substantial number of college coaches and players, support local hotels, and provide an economic benefit to the community with each event.

Recycle Your Live Christmas Tree Through January |
|
With the holiday season ending, residents of unincorporated Seminole County may place their live, real Christmas trees at the curb for collection no later than 6 a.m. on Wednesdays, the regular yard waste collection day. Collection will continue through the end of January.
Residents may also take live, real Christmas trees to the Central Transfer Station (1950 State Road 419, Longwood) or the Seminole County Landfill (1930 E. Osceola Rd., Geneva) for free and safe disposal.
Trees taller than eight feet must be cut into sections no longer than four feet. All lights, decorations, and ornaments must be removed.
Residents with artificial trees are encouraged to reuse them for future holiday seasons to reduce landfill waste. |

Honoring Veterans This Holiday Season |

Seminole County Community Services visited the Alwyn C. Cashe State Veterans’ Nursing Home to deliver holiday cards, sharing messages of gratitude and connection with our veterans during the holiday season.
Named in honor of U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Alwyn C. Cashe—an Oviedo native who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor—this nursing home stands as a lasting tribute to his courage, service, and sacrifice. |
