Bring the Family for Firefighter Competition and Fun |
|
Join the community for the 2026 All American Firefighter Challenge & Training Camp Family Fun Day on Saturday, April 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Seminole State College of Florida’s Sanford/Lake Mary Campus.
This free, family-friendly event is part of the full training camp taking place April 1–4, featuring more than 200 elite firefighters from across the country competing in the intense All American Challenge—often called “the toughest two minutes in sports.” The Opening Ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m on Saturday.
In addition to the live firefighter competition, attendees can enjoy Touch-a-Truck emergency vehicle displays, food trucks, vendor booths, and interactive activities for kids and families.
The event will take place at 100 Weldon Blvd., Sanford, and is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Seminole County Citizens Information Line at 407-665-0000. |

Seminole County to Host Clothing Swap Event |
|
The Seminole County Solid Waste Division is launching its first-ever Clothing Swap in partnership with the City of Casselberry on Saturday, April 11, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Casselberry Recreation Center.
The event will offer residents a chance to trade and swap their old clothing, ultimately recycling their pieces to give them a new life and reduce textile waste. Additionally, volunteer seamstresses will be available at the event to offer minor hemming, sewing, and alteration repairs to make articles of clothing new again for reuse.
Clothing and textiles that end up in landfills can take years to break down. By swapping, repairing, and reusing, residents can help keep materials out of the waste stream.
The Clothing Swap is one of several events Seminole County is hosting throughout April in recognition of Earth Month. |

New Inclusive Tennis Program Launches at Sanlando Park |
|
Seminole County is partnering with Opportunity, Community, Ability (OCA) and United States Tennis Association (USTA) Florida to launch a new tennis program for neurodivergent individuals at the County’s Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs.
The program offers weekly lessons led by trained staff and volunteer coaches, creating opportunities for participants of all ages and skill levels to stay active and connect with others.
Seminole County Board of County Commissioners Chairman Andria Herr attended the partnership announcement earlier this month.
“This is a tremendous addition to what we provide at Sanlando Park, and I’m grateful to our team at Seminole County Parks & Recreation for making this happen,” said Chairman Herr.
Seminole County Parks & Recreation is proud to host the program at Sanlando Park, which features 25 tennis courts and seven racquetball courts for residents to enjoy. |

Adoptable Dogs Hit the Field |
|
Seminole County Animal Services is partnering with UCF for “Pups at the Plex” as UCF Knights softball takes on the Utah Utes at the UCF Softball Complex on Friday, April 3 at 6 p.m.
The event will feature a live adoption pop-up with adoptable dogs starting at 5 p.m. Fans are also welcome to bring their pups to the game and enjoy the evening at the ballpark. Guests bringing dogs will need to sign a waiver at the entrance for their pup to be admitted. |

Swamp Walk |
|
Residents seeking an adventurous hike can join the Natural Lands team for a swamp walk through Spring Hammock Preserve. Attendees will follow their guide through the murky, unmarked trails of a real hydric hammock while learning about the diverse wildlife that call this habitat their home.

Build a Rube Goldberg Machine for Tweens (Ages 8–12) |
|
Tweens ages 8–12 are invited to dive into the world of STEM projects at the North Branch Library. Learn about Rube Goldberg and chain reaction machines. Using levers, wedges, pulleys, and more, attendees will create their own Rube Goldberg machine. All materials will be provided. Pre-registration is required.
